MILRON
OUR STORY
HISTORY TIMELINE
Milron started as a dream from Ron Hodgson back in day when he was building a new race car trailer in Edmonton with Deluxe Van and Body. Ron was working with Gale Banks Engineering from Azusa, California on building the world’s first top fuel twin turbo, nitro dragster.
In 1996 Milron started as a truck body building manufacturer with partners, Ron Hodgson and president Mike Dejanovic. Mike was an excellent fabricator and craftsman with exceptional skills. Milron had only been open a few months and it was filled to capacity with all types of truck body work and fabrication jobs.
In 1997 shortly after opening Mike hired Keith Macdonell as head of design and soon after implemented CNC equipment with the purchase of an Amada CNC punch for all parts processing.
In 1998 Milron took a huge step and a great advancement leading to quality, higher production and repeatability. It was the team of Mike and Keith that lead Milron into the future and set the standard at the time in the Western Canada truck body manufacturing industry.
Early in 2000 Ron Hodgson was building a new General Motors dealership, Southgate GMC in Edmonton and they wanted to have new toolboxes for all the automotive technicians, Milron designed technician toolboxes and supplied the dealership. These Milron toolboxes, the same used in our service bodies became the industry standard in Edmonton and grew as a product that was sold to many dealerships throughout Western Canada.
Early 2001, Milron advanced heavier into the CNC world with the addition of another CNC punches, a Strippet 1250MXP. Mike and Keith continually worked on and grew the business and word in the market spread about the quality of Milron prodcuts.
In 2006 Mike went on to start his own company Dematco Manufacturing, Keith remained and became the president operating Milron.
In 2007 when the second building of 27,500 sq feet, was added we added a 3rd Strippit 1250MXP for even higher capacity of production. With the building expansion we added staff and more production and improved on all manufacturing techniques.
In 2011 additional Multicam high definition plasma cutter plasma table machine was added to replace one of the Strippet CNC punches
In 2018 Keith Macdonell moved on to other adventures in life and the original partner Ron Hodgson re-focuses on the business and re-invests to substantially grow the business again into the future.
In 2019 Milron’s location in Phoenix opens after initial meetings with the larger automotive fleet stores in Phoenix and the dealers are very impressed with the quality of the Milron body vs. what is currently offered in their market place.
Milron Phoenix starts building relationships with many automotive groups in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona. Milron also begins to offer Palfinger cranes on the 11’ Aluminum body. Jason our Palfinger representative is absolutely impressed on the strength of the Milron 11’ body which has no deflection at all while undergoing the crane test on the 6600 crane.
Milron purchases and installs a 6’ x 12’ Mitsubishi 6Kw laser with automation loading and unloading, Amada CNC, laser punch combo with automation parts loading and parts robotic picking, Amada 10’ robotic press brake with conveyer unloading, Amada 10’ press brake with automatic tool changing, (2) Amada high speed 6’ brakes, Miller welding robot with twin turn tables, Do-all automated saw, Telsonic soldering machine, Schafer wire processing machine, new hand tools for all employees all new Miller welding equipment and a total revamp of the entire building including all new LED lights work stations and offices.
Milron has also added 3 engineers and 1 designer to our design team advancing our total to 6 full time people who will help advance the product into the future. Adapting new building techniques with the latest in the world technologies and equipment will again allow Milron to continue “Re-Setting” the standard now and into the future.
